Program Overview
Are you intrigued by the building blocks of life? Do you want to discover how organisms are structured — how they function and interact ecologically? Explore the molecular and cellular basis of life through our unique biology program.
Our curriculum integrates complementary disciplines that include chemistry, physics, molecular biology and biochemistry — essentials for the future of scientific progress.
You’ll be exposed to interactive and problem-based learning in classes and labs as well as through an optional internship. A broad range of opportunities allow you to explore your interests, whether in a research lab or in an environmental role.
Upon graduation, you can pursue careers in the areas of life, physical and social sciences, such as biological technician, microbiologist or medical laboratory scientist.
Through advanced graduate work, career opportunities expand to include even more positions in healthcare, education and academic settings, including, but not limited to, forensic scientist, environmental scientist, zoologist, wildlife biologist or physician assistant.
If you’re planning on going to medical school, you can fulfill pre-med requirements by expanding your studies through electives such as human anatomy, physiology and immunology.
Considering a Physician Assistant program?
You can apply to JWU’s Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies as a student in JWU’s Biology or Health Science bachelor’s degree program. If you meet academic and experiential eligibility requirements for the competitive pathway, you’ll move past most of the competition with a guaranteed interview by Physician Assistant admissions staff.
